The people have spoken. And the will of the people must be respected, even if it’s wrong.
Many commentators have described the North Staffordshire by-election as the beginning of the end for Boris Johnson. On the contrary. It’s time, instead, for him to look to his mentor Churchill and cross the floor.
In short, the man who has been unfairly satirised as waiting to see which way things are going, before running to the front saying “follow me”, should now see how things are going, and run to the front and say “follow me”.
In even shorter terms, Boris should now join the Lib Dems, and claim victory in North Staffordshire.
The Lib Dems, bless them, are rightly belittled as a party of extreme centrists. This would be a good move for them, to acquire a true leader of men. One with experience and success behind him. A man with the necessary charisma, virility and hairstyle for the job.
Johnson is, of course, a very moderate Conservative, like most of his Cabinet. Although many people in the country would beg him to take a more hardline stance on issues such as immigration, the move would be almost a natural fit for him. It would also benefit the nation by bringing the Lib Dems, politically, into the 21st century. It’s about time they abandoned such blatantly Woke quasi-Communist principles such as equality and human rights. Boris is the only man who could bring about such necessary change.
It is anticipated that Boris will bring almost all his fellow allegedly disgraced colleagues with him. They will be able to leave all accusations of corruption behind them in a great reset of Liberal Conservatism. Fellow moderates like Priti Patel will flourish with this new-found freedom. And the remaining Lunatic Fringe of the old party may be left in peace to gibber about gas chambers, public executions and happy fish.
And it reduces the opposition by one whole party. What’s not to love?
