If you think protests don’t work go to the anti-lockdown protest on Freedom Day!

If you think protests don’t work go to the anti-lockdown protest on Freedom Day!

Freedom has come to England, and so by extension to all of the constituent, colonial provinces governed by Westminster. The Welsh, the Scots, the Cornish and that man in Norfolk may not yet feel the great tide of change that began sweeping over England from midnight, but as the pent up energies of Englishmen and women seeking diversion see them cross all the borders they can, you can guarantee they will feel it. Perhaps even in tube form some weeks from now.

No. No. No. If you think you’re far away in that Welsh valley from a fat bellied Englishman with a bad cold and an allergy to masks, you’re not. A need for fellowship will see him find you and breathe the common air of humanity across your shopping aisle.

“They may take our wheeze, but they’ll never take our freedom” Boris Johnson was due to assert today, in what had been foreshadowed as a Churchillian speech on giving strangers lethal viruses, because you can, but sadly he is now in isolation. To find him on the 1500 hectare estate that is Chequers would take some doing. I suggest following the trail of champagne corks and giggling girls with faces like horses. But his absence does not mean he is not with England in spirit. Which is nice, because his actions mean a lot of England will soon be in spirit form only.

And what do we have to thank for this orgy of liberation? This mighty freedom day? We have public protest. Many of the Woke bemoan that protest no longer works. Largely because they are unaware the word protest needs to be preceded by the word sustained. Of course their political leaders are no different. They stand and say the world should change, but do nothing to change it. This is the fault of the Labour movement. They have not learned not to make multi-millionaires their party leader. But we discard all that from our minds today and celebrate our freedom!

And we give thanks to the anti-lockdown protestors whose complete disregard for the safety of other people have helped bring us to this short lived, collective and happy farce. I mean, pass.
